Family Formation is a diocesan approved K-6th religious education program originally founded at the Church of St. Paul in Ham Lake, MN. The program meets once a month on Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:45 in the Parish Center. During these nights parents and their children learn about and deepen their Catholic faith. Children attend grade level classes with trained catechists while parents engage in group discussion after listening to a speaker on a certain topic of faith. Family Formation allows parents to successfully fulfill their God-given role as the primary educators of their children by completing Home Lessons received during Family Formation nights. These Home Lessons, completed each week, are designed for parents to teach their children in a family setting in their home. This encourages and allows parents to witness by their actions and life the importance of their Catholic Faith to their children.
Ignite! is a middle and high school program designed to meet the needs of our youth at St. George. It meets bimonthly on Wednesday nights from 6:45-8:00. Built around the four pillars of the Catechism, the curriculum is on a four year rotation. Youth participate in large group games, activities, and speaker events while also engaging in small group discussion with trained catechists. This small/large group approach allows youth to experience and build a Catholic culture among themselves in daily living while forming healthy and authentic relationships to grow their spiritual lives. Opportunities for prayer and sacramental life are offered through scheduled Adoration and Confession times throughout the year. Social events and group outings are also included to allow for positive human formation within the youth.
